Life in 2057

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

There’s a very interesting TV show currently running on the Discovery Channel called 2057.  It’s a three part series on what life might be like in fifty years.  Theoretical Physicist, Dr. Michio Kaku and others, discuss the current trends in technology and theorize where they might lead.  Their vision of the future is simultaneously dramatized with actors and special-effects that tell a fascinating, yet cautionary tale.  As the story unfolds, it reveals some very frightening scenarios about the future and how our lives might be monitored, closer than ever before.

According to the theorists, the future truly will evolve into an Orwellian type of society where every aspect of our lives will be monitored and analyzed.  Medical advances in the year 2057 are going to be amazing and living healthy lives well over the age of 100 will become commonplace.  However, with those advancements will come very high insurance premiums and in order to stay covered, every bodily function will be monitored.  In the somewhat over-the-top dramatization, a man gets up for work after a night of heavy drinking.  He knows that his toilet will analyze his urine and send a report to his job and his insurance company, so he opens the medicine cabinet to reveal a stockpile of reserve urine.  He pours one of the containers into the toilet and relieves himself elsewhere.  This proves disastrous later on when he ends up in the hospital and needs to have his imitation heart replaced (I told you it was a bit over-the-top).  When the insurance company runs a scan on the urine from the toilet to the sample at the hospital, he instantly loses his coverage for trying to cover-up his bodily functions through fraud.  All of this, mind you, is analyzed from a central location which has a link to his toilet at home!

It’s amazing to me that our lives could possibly become so micromanaged by large corporate entities that even the contents of our pee will be monitored on a daily basis by some bureaucratic watchdogs.  One day we’re taking our shoes off and wanded at the airport, the next we’re losing our insurance because we had a few too many beers and our toilets nark on us.  How frightening!

It’s easy to see, however, how it might get to that point based on how our lives are constantly being monitored already today.  There are cameras watching our every move at work, restaurants, airports, malls, highways, schools, banks, convenience stores, and who knows where else.  With personal camera/video phones, people are watching other people every second of the day.  If you really think about it, you have no idea how many people are watching and recording your every move at any time throughout the day.  It’s enough to make you want to never leave your home!

Our finances and spending habits are monitored and analyzed by banks, credit card companies, credit report agencies, investment agents, the government, salespeople, and by just about anyone else with an internet connection and a list of easily-accessible logins and passwords.  Do you think you’re information is safe?  Think again.  There was a recent news story on MSNBC about a man whose entire life savings was high-jacked by someone who was able to access his online investment portfolio.  The high-tech thief logged in, requested a withdrawal, transferred the funds to a bank account with a completely different name, and was able to immediately withdraw tens of thousands of dollars in cash with no one even batting an eye.  When the true owner of the money realized what had happened, the investment agency basically said, “whoops,” but refused to repay him the money until the man contacted the press and it got out to the public.  Talk about scary!  It almost makes me want to stuff all my cash in the mattress like grandpa used to do.

My point is that technology and advancement is great, but with it comes an incredible loss of individual freedom and security.  Where will it all end?  Are we doomed to become just a bit of information in a giant network of data that will treat us like a set of zeros and ones, no longer individuals, no longer human?  Can anyone say, The Matrix?

The Bush Surge, Nukes and Neocons

Monday, January 29th, 2007

In accordance with my tirade about the Bush surge and the country’s desire to impeach this dictator, I would like to shed a little light on neoconservatism, conspiracy, nuclear war plans and the abuse of our military as a result.

Neoconservatism was born in the 1960′s and became official during the 1970′s with a significant presence under the administration of both George Bush and George Bush Jr.  The folks who follow this mode of socio-political thought are referred to as neocons.  Neocons include politicians, analysts and journalists who have had an aggressive influence, mostly detrimental, on United States foreign policy.  Leo Strauss pushed neoconservatism into the public mainstream in the 1970s through his teachings at the University of Chicago and the bestseller The Closing of the American Mind, written by his pupil Allan Bloom.  Neoconservatism has also been accused of being a codeword for Jewish and a movement led for the benefit of Israel, not in the actual interests of American people.

Irving Kristol was one of the founders of neoconservatism, currently sits on the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR) and is a Senior Fellow of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI).  William Kristol, Irving’s son, is the editor of the Washington based Weekly Standard.  A contributing editor to the Weekly Standard is Robert Kagan of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.  Robert Kagan is also on the board of directors of the Project of the New American Century (PNAC), a Washington based think tank run by William Kristol, with direct ties to the Bush Cabinet.  Frederick Kagan of AEI, the brother of Robert Kagan, is considered to be a major architect in Bush’s latest surge of over 20,000 troops.

The Financial Times reported on January 2, 2007 that Frederick Kagan, with General Jack Keane, argued, “any troop increase must be large and lasting…a surge of at least 30,000 combat troops lasting 18 months or so.”

Irving Kristol, William Kristol, Robert Kagan and Frederick Kagan are all committed to the teachings of Leo Strauss and engaging in America’s “long war”, a war without borders.   Add to this that Bush’s surge is derived from a document entitled Rebuilding American Defenses, which was co-authored by Donal Kagan (father of Frederick and Robert Kagan and Professor of History at Yale University), Gary Schmidt (PNAC Project Coordinator with Donald Kagan, resident fellow at AEI and colleague of Frederick Kagan) and Thomas Donnelly (main author, resident fellow at AEI and colleague of Frederick Kagan).  In this document, the PNAC recommends an expansion of active-duty strength from 475,000 to 525,000 and states the the Army National Guard should “play its essential role in fighting large scale wars” while minimizing civilian functions.

The same group authored a Letter to Congress Increasing U.S. Ground Forces in 2005, stating steps to be taken were, “to increase substantially the size of active duty Army and Marine Corps” because the “United States military is too small for the responsibilities we are asking it to assume.”

Consider the relationship with Washington based think tanks such as Carnegie and PNAC, along with the complex family and personal ties between neocons and it really smells like a long-term conspiracy orchestrated for the gain of a few at the expense of many.

Add to all this Congressman Charles Rangel’s 2006 bill introduced to U.S. Congress seeking to restore the draft, ironically described as an “anti-war” tactic directed against the Bush administration.  Further irony, on January 10, 2007, the same day as the Bush “surge”, Congressman  Rangel reintroduces his bill, entitled the Universal National Service Act of 2007.  Although Rangel is opposed to sending more troops to Iraq, his bill directly serves the interests of the Bush Administration.  The reintroduction of the draft is now on the books of Congress and could be used to substantiate bipartisan legitimacy to support Bush’s “surge”.

Furthermore, there is already what is called a “concealed military draft”  going on where U.S Marines are recalling and legally summoning over 14,000 inactive servicemen to serve in the Middle East and Iraq.  This is done with no regard for the servicepeople, their current lives and their families.  This concealed military draft has caused severe hardship for many, which remains largely unpublicized.

Also consider the thinly disguised operation of the government in executing Hussein and his associates to hype up the situation around Iran and the Middle East.  Isreali military and political circles have been making statements since October, 2006 about possible nuclear attack on the allegedly “unstoppable” Iran.  Bush Jr. supports these ideas and the possible necessity of nuclear strikes and a second United States aircraft carrier is scheduled to arrive at the Persian Gulf during the end of January.  Colonel Same Gardiner (USAF Retired) states, “The second carrier strike group leaves the United States west coast on Tuesday.  It will be joined by naval mine clearing assets from both the United States and the UK.  Patriot missile defense systems have also been ordered to deploy to the Gulf.  This has to be called escalation.  We have to remind ourselves, just as Iran is supporting groups inside Iraq, the United States is supporting groups inside Iran.  Just as Iran has special operations troops operating inside Iraq, we have read the United States has special operation troops operating inside Iran.”

The domestic and international ramifications of this good old boys’ conspiracy are alarming – mass destruction while they remain protected in their ivory towers, armed with the knowledge of their diabolical master plan.  Col. Gardiner says, “I do not accept the notion that the first casualty of war is truth.”  I agree Col. Gardiner – MamaSaid there’d be days like this…

Is There Another Hidden Hand Playing Cards?

Monday, January 29th, 2007

So just when is all hell going to break loose anyway? Personally I am sick of being surrounded by fear mongering politics and media telling me it’s all going to come down, and there is no escaping it. Just where are these massive floods, disease and death, famine, war, persecution, and blatant disregard to human rights and well being?

A lot of it is happening now, true. Our rights we take for granted on a daily basis, and nobody even cares to stand up and fight for it anymore anyway. Look at what Mr. Bush has gotten away with in his own country, against his own people! Since when did America become a dictatorship anyway? What happened to power to the people? If I am not mistaken, the leader of any democracy is put in place to give voice to the people, from the people. Now it’s him trying to put HIS voice in the people, and whatever they try and say is hogwash.

Here is a good one that has 80% of the planet running off to buy more shampoo and make-up, H5N1 bird flu, avian flu. Highly capable of mutating and causing a world pandemic ‘if’ it finds a way to cross the genetic barrier between birds and humans, making it much easier for humans to transmit it to other humans. What is the cure for this disease? NONE! They claim to have oseltamivir (Tamiflu) as the only known anti-viral that will have somewhat of an effect, if used within the first forty-eight hours of symptoms appearing. At the current time, if this actually escalated into something that can cause a pandemic, we would all be screwed. Especially people like me – people in their young twenties with strong immune systems – because apparently those are the worst effected by this. I will make a prediction now, or an assumption, that soon this virus will become a greater threat to us all. It is already being linked to the Spanish Flu of the WW1 era, which killed many hundreds of thousands. Yet further, I would not be surprised at all if one of the world governments is not testing this strain on us somewhere right now. Finding through us, what medications will and won’t work. Does anyone else here doubt that your own government will use you as a guinea pig? Lets get a closer look at missing peoples files if you want a little more of an idea. How many people go missing, or wind up dead somewhere, in one year? Media and government will have us believe that some psycho is out there committing atrocities against the general populace. What they fail to tell you, or even put the possibility on the table, is that THEY are the ones causing such things to happen. Look at the shroud of secrecy that surrounds any government facility. Words like classified information, declassified documents (which means that they were torn apart and put back together so what was classified will remain so and none will ever know of it). And just what the hell is going on down at Roswell, New Mexico anyway? I’m sorry, but I have little to no faith, or trust, in government bodies. We can only speculate on what they do behind closed doors and underground. But I guarantee you one thing, it’s not good at all.

Enough about that, lets get a look at Hollywood now shall we? Blockbuster movies, all with good guys and bad guys, happy plots, scary plots and humorous schemes. If we are to accept there is going to be an NWO, what say do they have in the releases we have to our availability? Anyone remember the movie V for Vendetta? Lets be honest, that movie drew some fine lines amongst people everywhere. It was a movie tailored to revolutionaries, it showed evil corruption all through government, past and present. It showed world leaders using terrorism (fear) to achieve what they wanted. They rounded up people and tested drugs on them in internment camps, political figure heads cashing in millions of profits on pharmaceuticals from a disease they created. Am I the only person who watched this and said to myself, “you monsters….” because I saw my own world reflected in this movie? Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Bush, all have millions invested in pharmaceutical technologies, and the best way to get results is to have test subjects. If you have such secret services going on in your country where the people really have no rights because you cannot fight your government alone. You will be judged, unfairly, and found guilty of crimes you had nothing to do with.

Back to V now, why would they release such a movie if it held truths? Two options come to my mind, either there is some organization working in counter measures with the NWO and have been around just as long as they have (nothing exists without an opposite, the questions is, is the opposite of the NWO organized?) and if so, who and where are they? What power struggles go on between the two of them behind the scenes? Why don’t they come out in the open and lay the tracks bear for humanity to see? Would we believe them? Or are we not ready to believe them? Or… are we them? And until now have not begun to organize ourselves against this common enemy? Am I… the resistance… or maybe you are… someone has to be… or will be… but who is it?

Celebrity Conspirators?

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Are celebrities being used by leaders of the New World Order as a tool to distract the public from paying too close attention to the actions that are leading us towards the next planned World War?  I’m sure that most peoples’ reaction to that statement will probably be, “Of course not, that’s just silly.”  But is it?  With the ridiculous antics of Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, and Britney Spears being reported on with surprising regularity, even by so-called respected newscasters and journalists, if it’s not a tactic, perhaps it should be.

From larger-than-life celebrity weddings, babies, and divorces to the seemingly daily acts of celebrity stupidity, addiction, and sex-tape seductions, the news seems saturated with these nearly instantaneous reports of the rich, famous, and nearly famous.  While American and British troops are being brutally slaughtered everyday by extremists and terrorists, most people seem more preoccupied by who Jessica Simpson is dating or what bizarre thing Tom Cruise will do next.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my big money, action-hero celebrity movie stars, my reality-TV pseudo-celebrity stars, and my simply-famous-because-they’re-rich-and-beautiful stars, but lately it seems like these folks are more frequently known for their day-to-day faux pas and foibles rather than for their talents and skills.  Is it possible that these select few are part of a larger plot to keep the public looking left while the activities of those who control our destiny are to the right?

Let’s look at the facts.  Hollywood and its celebrities have always been used by interested parties to change the feelings, opinions, or beliefs of the general public.  Before, during, and after World War II, the movies were regularly used to sway the public’s opinion of what was going on in other parts of the world.  Using newsreels, propaganda films, and mainstream blockbuster films to depict the war from the allied point-of-view, Americans supported the war without really knowing the details.  Celebrities have been used specifically to rally support for troops and military actions, such as Elvis during the early years of the Vietnam War.  While he never served in Vietnam and was just about as far away from real combat as he could get in Germany, don’t think for a second that Elvis was drafted or that his military service was voluntary.  If nothing else, we’ve learned that celebrities can get out of just about everything…even murder, OJ.  However, have no doubt that his stint in the military was completely and totally a planned move by some one or some group who had the power and the need to get the most popular entertainer of the time to join the military and show the people that war was fun and glamorous, not deadly.

Today, the allure of doing actual military service has lost its appeal for those in entertainment.  When’s the last time you’ve heard of a celebrity joining the military?  Post-Elvis Vietnam took care of that.  So, the powers that be could be using other tactics to distract and disorient the public.  I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the reality-TV era began just before September 11th.  While we mindlessly watched Regis give money to people who knew a lot about nothing important on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and a group of stranded islanders compete for food and luxuries on Survivor, the plot to fly planes into America’s buildings unfolded, seemingly unnoticed by everyone.  Then, as the world stared in awe at the destruction, we willingly and easily went back to watch those and many more shows like them as if unwilling to let go of the nothing-can-hurt-us, make-believe reality that Hollywood produces.

Perhaps it’s not a conspiracy, but a coincidence.  Perhaps celebrities today really are as stupid as they seem.  Perhaps it’s just human nature to want to escape from the realities of everyday life and the problems of the world.  However, people need to be reminded that Hollywood always produces a happy ending, yet the boys and girls coming home in body bags will never get to see that version.

The Agenda Part 1: Economy Wars

Friday, January 26th, 2007

You may not be able to tell from just looking at them on TV, but the Democratic Party is divided, perhaps harshly divided, into two separate warring camps. . . .

EPI, the Economic Policy Institute, is the leading economic think tank in Washington DC.  But this lofty position isn’t necessarily attained by their ability to out think other brainstormers.  They are politically aligned to have a major impact on the American economic landscape.

You may not be able to tell from just looking at them on TV, but the Democratic Party is divided, perhaps harshly divided, into two separate warring camps.  We’re not talking about the Iraq War–the ones who voted for it and the ones who didn’t.  No, that’s a completely different topic.   This is an economic ideology war.  And the idea guys have been in a pitch battle for decades.  And while most of the country is focused on the battle for Baghdad, the victors of the past election will be trying to slip policy changes on Health Care and Globalization into congressional bills.

Many people think the country has had it with the GOP and are looking to get back to the good old days of Clinton’s economic policies.  But if you asked some of the people at EPI, they’d say Clinton was a part of the Reagan economy.  After all, he gave us NAFTA.  Didn’t it seem funny that at the time, all the Republicans thought it was a great idea?  Hmmmm.

Now, however, the upper hand is given to the Neopopulists.  Recently, Hillary Clinton, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had Mr. Robert Rubin, the architect of President Clinton’s economic policies, to a meeting of the Democratic Party Officials.  It didn’t go well for Mr. Rubin.  He is seen by the Neopopulists, who align themselves with organized labor and have gained politically through the election, as having hallowed out the middle class.

The Neopopulists like Sen. John Edwards.  So listen in the coming run on the White House for two lines of economic policies.  On one side, you’ll have Hillary following in her husband’s footstep with Mr. Rubin and his “Rubinomic” ideas, flowing from his think tank called the Hamilton Project.  On the other side, you’ll have Sen. John Edwards talking up neopopulists ideas coming straight from EPI.

The other rising political powerhouse to watch is Senator James Webb, Democratic Senator from Virginia and former Secretary of the Navy.  You may have caught his strong performance during the Democrats rebuttal to the State of the Union address.  He also spoke via fiber connection at the EPI news conference of the Agenda for Shared Prosperity.

He spoke of class war and the divide that is growing between the wealthy and the middle class.  “The growing divide along class lines isn’t good for anyone, including the rich.”  He called for economic populism, fairness to the people doing the hard work of our society.  And a square deal, one that’s fair for all.  He made mention of the wage stagnation, a popular song sung by Neopopulists, and the growing costs of education while the first jobs out of college pay less with less benefits.

On the other hand, the economic policies of the 90′s gave more money to the wealthy.  The top 1% now makes 400 times more than the average worker that’s up from 250 times.  “The internationalization of corporate America means we’re not all in this together,” Webb said.  “We need a level playing field with workers all over the world.”

A representative from the steel worker’s union got up and said, “Yeah, we’re in a class war, problem is only one side has been armed.”

But the larger question is whose policies will rise to the top of the Democratic Party’s agenda.

Genetic Modification – You are the Guinea Pig

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Moving into the farming belt I started hearing rumbling from farmers about Round up ready seeds. The research I have found proved that this a very serious matter.

http://www.non-gm-farmers.com/news_print.asp?ID=713 Negative market price impacts are not neutral issues. The impact that Bt (genetically engineered or GMO) corn is having on markets for U.S. corn is far from being neutral.  Lost corn exports to the European Union: According to official USDA export and trade statistics, U.S. corn export quantity to the European Union has dropped from 2.778 MMT (million metric tons) in MY (marketingyear) 1995/96 to the miniscule level of only 6,300 MT as of August 16, 2001 with only two weeks remaining in the current 2000/01 marketing year.

As you see the farmers understand that the world is rejecting Genetically Engineered corn. With cross pollination many farmers are becoming part of GM food chain without their consent. Why is the world rejecting this corn? Why has the report been so quiet in America? To further educate myself on this topic, I watched the DVD “Future of Food” http://www.thefutureoffood.com/   Part of the synopsis on the web site.

From the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada to the fields of Oaxaca, Mexico, this film gives a voice to farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by this new technology. The health implications, government policies and push towards globalization are all part of the reason why many people are alarmed by the introduction of genetically altered crops into our food supply.

Greed is the overwhelming drive of these few multinational corporations that want control of all seeds around the world. India recently took this to their high court and preserved their native seeds. Open pollinated seeds can be saved and replanted ever year – also called non hybrid seeds. Several small farmers in third world counties depend on the ability to save seeds for next years crop. But if the few large multinational companies have their way, only their seeds and pesticides can be used. This is very important for understanding how the world food supply is in danger.

Watch the DVD, have your friends and family watch the DVD. Wow I am amazed on so many points where to begin. First, they can genetically modify our food and put it on the shelves for sale without any testing or approval. That is right, no 10 year study on rats to make sure it is safe – nothing. If you buy food from a grocery store you are now a human guinea pig. Back in the 90′s they spliced in a flounder gene with tomatoes so the tomatoes would have a longer shelf life. Do you know what a flounder is? A salt water fish like a halibut. If you ate any of these tomatoes you were eating a fish gene at the same time without your consent or knowledge. I am totally amazed.

They are working on a terminator seed that grows once then never again. If this cross pollinates with non hybrid seeds it could spell disaster. I can’t believe the American people have allowed this playing God without standing up and yelling from the rooftops – no GM foods allowed in this country. Educate yourself – take action before it is too late.

Before anyone labels me as a far left liberal, I can assure I am the farthest thing from that stereotype. Educate yourself. This is a major battle. Find out what other countries are doing to stop this and help Americans wake up to the danger and change this before it is too late. Till next time, never stop learning.

US Bill Would Bring Troops Home in Six Months

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Last week US Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) introduced H.R. 508, the “Bring the Troops Home and Iraq Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2007,” the strongest of all current US Congressional bills which seek to de-escalate the US Invasion of Iraq. The bill would force the withdrawal of “all U.S. troops and military contractors from Iraq within six months” by cutting funding for the occupation after that time period, US Rep. Woolsey (D-CA) said in a press release.

In addition to calling for a six-month withdrawal, the bill authorizes a “wide array of non-military U.S. bilateral and multilateral assistance for reconstruction and reconciliation in Iraq,” original cosponsor US Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said in a statement on her website. Additionally, the bill “guarantees health care for U.S. veterans,” Waters said.

The bill currently has 26 total cosponsors including Georgia’s US Rep. John Lewis (D-GA).

The list of total cosponsors includes: US Reps. Robert Brady (D-PA), Corrine Brown (D-FL), Julia Carson (D-IN), Wm. Lacy Clay (D-MO), Steve Cohen (D-TN), John Conyers (D-MI), Danny Davis (D-IL), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Sam Farr (D-CA), Chaka Fattah (D-PA), Bob Filner (D-CA), Frank Barney (D-MA), Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX), Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Donald Payne (D-NJ), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Fortney Pete Stark (D-CA), Maxine Water (D-CA), and Diane Watson (D-CA), and Lynn Woolsey (D-CA).

“Our plan, with the exception of Veterans’ benefits, will cost the American people pennies on the dollar as compared to continuing the occupation for two more years. It will save lives, bodies, and minds, and it will give Iraq back to the Iraqis,” US Rep. Woolsey said.

The bill “provides the President, and this Congress, with a comprehensive way to respond to the majority of Americans who want our troops to come home,” the Congresswoman added.

In a rejection of Bush’s troop “surge” strategy, the bill explicitly prohibits any additional funding to deploy more troops. The “Bring the Troops Home” Act is just one of many bills currently in the US House or Senate opposing Bush’s plan.

US Rep. Jack Murtha (D-PA) submitted similar legislation last week labeled HJ Res. 18, which calls for the redeployment of all U.S. troops at the “earliest practicable date.”

Congressman Murtha’s bill currently has 96 total cosponsors, including US Reps. John Lewis and Hank Johnson (D-GA) of Georgia.

Unlike H.R.508, Murtha’s bill does not call for a set withdrawal date.

Meanwhile in the US Senate, a number of bills voicing opposition to Bush’s increase of troop deployment are gaining popularity.

Last week US Sen. Biden (D-DE) introduced a bill, S Con Res 2, stating, “It is not in the national interest of the United States to deepen its military involvement in Iraq.”

US Sen. Biden’s bill currently has 14 total cosponsors, including US Sens. Cardin (D-MD), Clinton (D-NY), Durbin (D-IL), Hagel (R-NE), Lautenberg (D-NJ), Levin (D-MI), Mikulski (D-MD), Murray (D-WA), Reed (D-RI), Rockefeller (D-WV), Snowe (R-ME), Stabenow (D-MI), and Wyden (D-OR).

US Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) sponsored a somewhat stronger bill, S. 287, two weeks ago, that would cut funding to the troop escalation. The bill would specifically, “prohibit the use of funds for an escalation of United States military forces in Iraq above the numbers existing as of January 9, 2007,” according to the bill text.

Currently, US Sen. Kennedy’s bill only has 8 total cosponsors, including US Sens. Boxer (D-CA), Brown (D-OH), Harkin (D-IA), Kennedy (D-MA), Kerry (D-MA), Leahy (D-VT), Menendez (D-NJ), and Sanders (I-VT).

US Sen. Feingold’s (D-WI) S. 121, perhaps the strongest bill in the Senate, would “provide for the redeployment of US forces from Iraq.” It, however, only has two total cosponsors, US Sen. Boxer (D-CA) and Feingold.

These various bills that oppose the “surge” specifically challenge the strategic merits of Bush’s troop increase.

For instance, according to its authors, H.R. 508 challenges the entire US Invasion of Iraq by repealing the “2002 law authorizing use of military force against Iraq.”

The authors add it ensures “the U.S. has no long-term control over Iraqi oil,” and further, “prohibits any permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq.”

There have been a number of other nonbinding bills in the US House opposing an escalation of deployed troops, but do not provide mechanisms to prevent the escalation or promote an end to the Invasion.

Two weeks ago, US Rep. Martin Meehan (D-MA) introduced H RES. 41, titled, “Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that an increase in number of members of the United States Forces deployed in Iraq is the wrong course of action and that a drastic shift in the political and diplomatic strategy of the United States is needed to help secure and stabilize Iraq.”

A day later, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) introduced a similar bill, H. Con Res 23, “Expressing the sense of Congress that the President should not order an escalation…”

Both of these bills currently have more cosponsors than the “Bring the Troops Home” bill; US Rep. Meehan’s bill has 45 total cosponsors while US Rep. Kucinich’s bill has 34.

Tuesday night, President Bush responded indirectly to the Congressional activity opposing his plan and the US Invasion of Iraq in general in his annual State of the Union address, “If American forces step back before Baghdad is secure, the Iraqi government would be overrun by extremists on all sides.”

Furthermore he added, “Our country is pursuing a new strategy in Iraq, and I ask you to give it a chance to work. And I ask you to support our troops in the field, and those on their way.”

Despite Bush’s plea for support, many analysts expect US Congress to pass some form of legislation opposing the increase in military forces in Iraq.

State of the Union Message of Hope and Opportunity

I’m not saying that “terrorists” don’t exist in this world, because I’m sure that they do.  I’m not saying that America doesn’t have “enemies” that would go to extreme lengths to take away the freedoms and luxuries that we have in this country, because I’m sure that we do.  I’m not even saying that we shouldn’t be deploying troops to various parts of the planet to help keep the world safe from these so-called terrorists and enemies, because I’m sure that we should.  What I am saying is that we don’t have to be reminded of these facts by constantly being hit over the head with threatening, fear-inducing, scare tactics in order to bully us all into following foolish and ineffective leadership.

In this week’s State of the Union address, President Bush started off his speech by using the term “hope and opportunity” seven different times to talk about bipartisanship, the economy, education, healthcare, immigration, energy, and a fair justice system.  Great, I’m all for hope and opportunity, sounds good, where do I sign up?  However, just as the positive message Bush was sending started to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, ready to sing Kum-Bai-Ya, and roast some marshmallows to make smores, the fear and loathing I had been feeling for the last five years was quickly returned to me as the visions of death and destruction replaced my visions of hope and opportunity.  As Bush continued, he proceeded to use the words terror/terrorist 20 times, enemy/enemies 12 times, extremists five times, and kill/killer five times.  In addition, to mix it up a bit, he used words like slaughter, wicked, violent, malignant, atrocity, evil, danger, hatred, extremist, horror, hostile, and death squad dozens and dozens of times to indicate just how much the rest of the world hates us and wants to kill us.  Jeez Louise, suddenly I feel as if my own shadow is out to get me!

Why is this overwhelming tendency to scare the beegeezees out of everyone used by someone who is supposed to fill us with confidence rather than uncertainty?  Because it’s effective.  Whether the American public realizes it or not, our subconscious is taking in all of those words and images and feelings of fear and uneasiness and on some level making us all believe that these threats are very real and very relevant.  Like I said, I have no doubt that the boogeyman is out there somewhere and he wants to get us all, but what I don’t know is how bad it really is.  As any good cult leader would know, the more you tell someone you’re the reincarnation of Jesus, the more likely they’ll start to believe it as truth simply based on the mere repetitious suggestion of the idea.  It’s this type of mind-manipulating persuasive speech that gets inside a person and makes them start seeing demons where there are only shadows.

So, how can we know for certain how threatening these extremist enemy terrorist killers really are?  Well, according to Bush these things are “measured by the things that did not happen.”  What???  That’s like saying, “I didn’t get a murdered today, so I’ll probably get murdered tomorrow.”  The mere fact that you didn’t get murdered today in no way proves that you’re going to get murdered tomorrow.  The two things have no connection whatsoever.  Saying that we have to continue to live in daily fear based on things that did not happen makes absolutely no sense.  Where are the planes filled with terrorists?  Where are the massive supplies of anthrax waiting to be poured into our water systems?  Where are those hidden nuclear (or should I say nu-que-lar) weapons we heard so much about?  I guess those things haven’t happened yet, so be afraid…be very afraid because they’re bound to happen tomorrow.  Suddenly, that message of hope and opportunity seems so distant.

Are the Saudis and the U.S. Already Waging Financial War with Iran?

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Thanks to Lee for alerting us to this story.  It seems that the recent dropping price of oil is not an accident.  Neither are the words of the Saudi Minister saying that oil production will not be limited to increase price.  Is this a concerted effort by the US and Saudi Arabia to disrupt the finances of the Shiite regime in Iran?  Even some people at MSNBC seem to think so.

Mass Media – An Outlet for Propoganda?

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

What use is mass media if they can’t even properly quote a world leader? We’ve all heard the line from Iranian president Ahmadinejad that “Israel must be wiped off the map”. But in truth, he said no such words. Would you like to know what his exact words were? Allow me to share them with you.

“Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad.”

“The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time”.

Word by word translation:

Imam (Khomeini) ghoft (said) een (this) rezhim-e (regime) ishghalgar-e (occupying) qods (Jerusalem) bayad (must) az safheh-ye ruzgar (from page of time) mahv shavad (vanish from).

Surely, he had no mention of Israel, Jews, or of wiping anyone off a map. His statements were directed at the Zionists occupying Jerusalem, and that they do not belong there. Yes his statement is directed at Israel, that much is clear. But why did the mass media twist his words so? Impact? Propaganda? Or was it conditioning of the masses to help rally support against a cause.

His opinions are voiced clearly through all the Arab states. None agree with the terrorist methods that led up to the loss of lands for the Palestinians. Israel in Palestine is simply one thing, a conflict waiting to happen. When this conflict does escalate, after years of petty squabbles with its neighbors, it will be a very messy all out war.

Unfortunately, to anyone who voices these opinions, they are branded as anti-semetics, or holocaust deniers. Why is it that the world cannot voice its dislikes towards Israel as a terrorist state? So now we are left back to his words, where the regime of Israel must be removed so peace can be restored in the Arab world. Would be a proper way of phrasing what he was trying to say I believe. The media of the west tries to portray Israel as a suppressed people, “the poor Israeli’s”, when spoke of in the news. As if they don’t deserve any of what is happening to them, and none of it is their fault.  If Palestine had never been handed over to the Zionists after WW2 by Britain and America, we would have never had this problem. Zionists migrated there, and over the span of a couple years, started driving Palestinians from their homes and cities with what is branded today as terrorist methods. They raided small towns, blew up buildings, stole land, killed many. Now we are supposed to sympathize with these people as every country around them declares them as a state not belonging to the Arab world and wants them gone. Not wiped off a map, not every last one of them killed, just get out of our lands.

Yet the media will portray them all in a different light, and try to make the ones with a just cause look like men and people of evil conceptions. Nay, be careful what words find hold in your mind when listening to media sources, for the wrong words are often sent as truth. When in fact, the truth they offer is a web of lies tied into something they want you to think is the truth. Not so hard a feat when you have the global media we have today. Look how fast Ahmadinejad had his words twisted out of context and it spread the whole world over. To quote a smart friend of mine, who wrote the following, I believe it can sum up modern mass media quite well.

“The fear propagated on all the big ‘Zionist’ news networks is simply phenomenal, it’s BIG business, not only does it generate massive revenues but its mind control on a world scale for all the major power bases in the west. Watching “news” on any of the major networks these days resembles a Hollywood action movie, it’s highly addictive and highly effective at the role it plays on modern society, it throws disinformation at you from many places at the speed of light, you can’t keep up with words rolling across the screen, cutting from this story to that, euphoric or scary music pounding your eardrums, and flashy graphics blinding your retinas. This is not about “news”, this is very clever aversion therapy akin to the movie Clockwork Orange. George Orwell is rolling in his grave. He who controls the eyes, controls the mind and the single greatest way to control the duller masses is through FEAR. Fear makes them shop compulsively for things they don’t really want or need, fear makes them give up their basic human rights and freedoms without question, fear keeps them sitting down by with their fingers in their ears while a handful fascist criminals use their tax money to fund a genocide for reasons I will get into in a moment. While the masses of many western countries (but mostly America) are hypnotized by this grand illusion the manipulators are turning their countries into fascist police states where only the wealthy and powerful can survive comfortably, not much different to Nazi Germany, and there also seems an eerie feeling like that of pre WW2 (I’m sure), only now the Nazi build up for war is now the American build up for war and the Nazi Reichstag fire is Americas 9/11. The scary thing is it’s the same bloodlines who helped build the Nazi empire that now rule America and secretly own the American federal reserve.”

Who do we trust for our information?  It sure cannot be most general media outlets throughout the world. You must eliminate all politics surrounding the issue, take an event, record its occurrence in your mind, and decide yourself why it happened. The answers are out there to find.  It is almost like a grand puzzle. Nobody can place the entire picture together for you unless YOU have all the pieces. Mass media sources make their own pieces to puzzles, and it just never looks right when put together as a whole. Fill in the blanks, and you have your answers.
