Spider Web Of The Universe, and The Chain That Binds

Posted in General at 12:08 pm by Kevin Scott

Being an inquisitive type, I tend to spend frequent hours reading, pondering, all the while working on my chain maille vest. Call it my zen activity if you will, really it is just a constructive pass-time. During these hours I ask myself a lot of questions, and eventually put my answers down in writing for later reflection.

I once proposed a question to a group of friends. I had asked them, “Are you a big part of a small world, or are you a small part of a big world?” Each had varying opinions naturally, and hearing theirs helped me to formulate a better opinion on this question myself. We see the world around us and interact with what is around us, and within our limitations. This is our small world, where anything we do can have a lasting impact on our future. Then there is the big world, which is an entire universe of other small worlds interlaced together to form one very complex pattern that is currently beyond our ability to comprehend.

It’s funny now, to look at society we as humans have constructed and see all the weak links holding it together. I don’t have to point them all out, you see them for yourself. I am not here to preach, simply to point out one thing. Every weak link breaks at some point, and detaches itself from the rest of the pattern, causing further weakness, until repaired by the natural balance of existence itself. I also won’t say I know what is better for humanity or society as a whole. It is not hard to say though, that it could be indefinitely better than what it currently is. So, throughout this weaving pattern of existence, and false pretenses we hold dear as “proper” conduct and belief, we start finding holes. Things are coming apart in rapid succession now, how much longer until it collapses?

I suppose that is also why staying in peak physical shape is also essential. Exercise is the number one way of flushing your body from toxins, along with lots of water, and a healthy nutrition balance. Society is going to crash down upon itself sometime in the near future, its already sagging with sorrow and misery. Having a personal self defense routine is something I would highly recommend to anyone. It provides discipline of self, and a confidence on ones abilities in all aspects of life.

All one can do in life, is try to make their own small world a strong important part of the larger world around them. You must not be dependent upon the world around you to survive, everything around you must be dependent upon you as well. Balances will shift in either direction, they always do, take the good with the bad, react as necessary.

Seven hundred thousand small rings hold a full chain maille shirt together. Seven hundred thousand. The one who makes this shirt truly understands what it means if you have a weak link.

    Kevin,

This is a lesson in the global collective consciousness. Where ever fear takes hold (It often begins with leadership and trickles down like the money.) It creates multiple weak links in the gloabl society.

Wherever, love hope and joy replace fear, the links are again strengthened. When we overcome our own fears and it is not especially difficult to do, often requiring no more than a change of viewpoint, we are able to affect those we contact in a growth oriented, fear conquering way. Eventually we can infect a much larger community in the very face of crippling fear.

Now we have the internet and we can, with our words and the intentions which form them, affect people all around the globe and this consciousness raising and rejection of fear based society is making rapid progress. It is called the butterfly effect. A butterfly beats its wings outside my window and a breeze is created half way around the planet. The choices each individual makes counts for so much more than it is possible for one to imagine. Indeed, we are a large part of a small world.
