Are the Saudis and the U.S. Already Waging Financial War with Iran?
Thanks to Lee for alerting us to this story. It seems that the recent dropping price of oil is not an accident. Neither are the words of the Saudi Minister saying that oil production will not be limited to increase price. Is this a concerted effort by the US and Saudi Arabia to disrupt the finances of the Shiite regime in Iran? Even some people at MSNBC seem to think so.

I am not so sure about the conclusions drawn in this article.
Are the Saudis and the U.S. patient enough to wait until Iran runs out of cash and exhausts its borrowing capacity? If so, this strategy will be jangling the nerves of a few people inside the U.S. military machine.
Meanwhile, will Iran sit idly by while this takes place? They are not alone in their ideological pursuits. Although radical from a few angles, Iran’s leadership is not operating in isolation, nor on its own strength.
Financial pressure on oil earnings might not even have the desired effect. When you squeeze your tube of toothpaste what comes out? I wonder if Saudi and U.S. policy makers have ever wonder what would happen when you squeeze a cash-strapped, isolationist and radical regime?
