Is Being a Bad American Good?

Posted in General at 9:35 am by MamaSaid

Today I’ve decided to add a lighter touch to my traditionally serious blog entries. As regular readers know, I am actively involved in my community and truly enjoy the opportunity to blog about my perspective. My fellow volunteers are aware of this passion and I received a funny, yet accurate, email today that I felt the need to share. This piece was actually written by a famous comic with a unique viewpoint himself. My comments are right after each entry.

The World Theater

Posted in General at 3:47 pm by Kevin Scott

Hello ThreeWorldWars readers and subscribers, I write this to you all now as my Donec Alius Diei (Until another day should come). I have recently sold my possessions, packed a bag, and am headed off into the world (again) to further expand my own knowledge and capabilities. this of course is all useless information to you all, I just had to say my farewells to this community as even though inactive as of late, has become part of my family.

Memorial Day Thoughts and Losses

Posted in General at 12:55 pm by MamaSaid

Memorial Day is a solemn occasion around my house as my family considers the people who lost their lives serving in Vietnam with my husband. Our prayers are with those people and our hearts go out to their loved ones, as well as the other soldiers who have served their country and given their lives over the years.

Carter Gets Bush-Whacked by Administration for Accuracy

Posted in General at 8:52 pm by MamaSaid

I have had a momentary diversion from my veteran husband’s medical concerns today as I read the statements made by former United States President, Jimmy Carter, regarding the current President, George Bush, Jr. Carter stated about Bush, quite accurately, that, “I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history.” Carter’s response was in response to a question that compared the Bush administration to Nixon’s foreign policy. The Carter statement was published in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and it didn’t take Bush long to catch wind of it. Read the rest of this entry »

Ongoing Medical Indifference to Veterans

Posted in General at 4:34 pm by MamaSaid

My husband, a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, was recently sent to the emergency room on his way to the VA hospital. After stopping at a local clinic on his way to the VA because he was dizzy, the clinic called me and let me know they were transporting him by ambulance to the local hospital emergency room because they were not equipped to perform all the necessary tests. The VA hospital in our community is over 50 miles from our residence and located in a town with houses that are impossible for disabled veterans to even dream of affording. Thus, the clinic stated my husband had to be sent to the local emergency room, despite the fact my husband and I let them know he was best sent to a VA hospital because of his special circumstances and medical history.

The Dirt About Earth Day

Posted in General at 8:57 pm by MamaSaid

Okay, I will admit I have been a distracted blogger over the past couple of weeks because I got involved with some community Earth Day activities to clean up our neighborhood and a little piece of the world. With all the Earth Day hype starting to calm down a week later, I had a chance to think a bit more about the day and asked myself – what’s it really all about and when did it actually start?

Censorship Is An Ugly Word Too

Posted in General at 10:23 am by ZoeWashburne

Before you jump on the down with Don Imus bandwagon, you might want to stop for a moment and think about what it is that you’re truly fighting for or against.  To be completely and totally clear, I am no Don Imus fan.  The comments that he made were totally racist, sexist, and completely tasteless.  However, and this is a big one, we live in one of the very few countries which “supposedly” allows the freedom of expression and the freedom of speech and what Don Imus said needs to be tolerated if we have any chance of keeping our so-called inherent right to voice our opinions publicly without the fear of censorship or punishment.

Tales of a Young Marine and the Importance of History

Posted in General at 10:48 am by MamaSaid

As the wife of a Marine who survived the front lines of the Vietnam War, I am always compelled to read the experiences and stories of other Marines who have served our country. I was recently shaken up by the comments of a Marine who served in Iraq for seven months and is going for his second deployment this month. At 21 years old, this young man is already well aware of the lies our government perpetuates because he has experienced them firsthand.

The Mayans and Their Doomsday Calendar

Posted in General at 7:40 pm by ZoeWashburne

As you may already know, according to the Mayan calendar, the world is scheduled to end at precisely 11:11 GMT on December 21, 2012.  Beyond that though, what exactly do you know about the Mayans, their famous calendar, and all of this apocalypse talk?
